Head scratcher

I'm still scratching my head on Consol. Still holding my shares. Tempting to buy more, but I don't want to be too greedy. Appears to be retesting long term support in addition to what I see as breakout support. It's not an oil company. It supplies electric generation fuel to the highly industrialized and populated northeast. People may buy less SUVs, more hybrid vehicles, or drive less, but that doesn't impact electric demand and consumption. Maybe it was a mild summer, but the frosts have already begun. One share of CNX gets you 0.8 share CXG. Add to that they have easy access to not one but two major railroad operators, they own their own Ohio river system barge fleet and they have operations in the port of Baltimore. I would think these assets, plus 450,000 acres of land, 4.5 billion tons of coal, and 1 trillion cubic feet of natural gas might be worth more. Oil is one thing. Electricity is another. We shall see.

Dry cleaning

Sometimes it gets ugly. And painful to watch. Doubling down on CNX hasn't panned out as it's desperately seeking support. I lost my gain in Palm with their negative outlook. Commerce Bank is stuck in a rut. I have in essence given back all my gains I had over my funds, and then some. Impatience and bad decisions have done me in lately. I would have gained another several hundred dollars had I kept Anadarko, not even another whole week. I should have sold the Consol instead. I should have taken my gains in Palm. I sold my MWRK on some strength. Same with Target. Both up since then. Couldas, shouldas and wouldas. Oh well. The only consolation is that the whole market has been taking a beating. It's amazing what can happen when you lose the slightest bit of humility and start thinking too much. I've decided to refocus, get back to my gameplan, and put my gameface - or lack thereof - on. I just need to ssalvage what I can and move on, although there's no panic as my watch list doesn't currently offer any bargains. And according to my analysis, Consol, Commerce, and Palm are looking oversold and ready to rise - just as they did when I bought them. Time will tell. I'll let you know when the patience runs out.
